What is MAARS?

MAARS (Modern Academic Advisory Research System) is an ecosystem that focuses on developing digital health solutions, combining innovative technologies with a human-centered approach. Its primary goal is to protect and strengthen the social, cognitive, and physical health of society.

MAARS is not a "single project"; it is an overarching architecture that unifies different projects and field applications under the same methodological language. The platform consists of three main projects: iShe, TERAKKİ, and MUASIR.

MAARS is a methodological and system architecture that aims to transfer the experience gained from completed projects to new programs and pilot applications.

What Does MAARS Do?

The core function of MAARS is to transform data into "knowledge" and "guidance."

Measures

Uses a structured measurement approach to identify needs, risks, and priorities.

Analyzes

Converts collected data into meaningful indicators; enables comparison and monitoring.

Produces Guidance

Develops applicable recommendation frameworks at individual, institutional, and societal levels.

Designs Models

Produces field-appropriate models and roadmaps that can be tested through pilot applications.

Core Modules: iTM

Three fundamental projects of the MAARS platform

iShe (Ayşe)

TÜBİTAK 1002-A - Completed

An NLP and LLM-based mobile application developed to increase social interactions of elderly individuals living alone, monitor their cognitive health, and reduce depressive symptoms. Conducted with Ege University Faculty of Medicine Geriatric Clinic.

TERAKKİ

Planning Phase

Collection of daily health data through wearable devices and continuous monitoring of individuals' health status. Tracking pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation with smart watches, wristbands, and sensors.

MUASIR

Planning Phase

Digital health cabins and advanced imaging systems to facilitate access to healthcare services and provide early diagnosis opportunities. AI-powered diagnosis and data analysis.

Field Programs

Implementation projects

Istanbul

Urban Health Reform

Aims to design a holistic health model focused on local government at Istanbul scale.

Izmir

Living Campuses

Aims to develop a living campus model focused on elderly health with the "Active Aging" approach in Izmir.

Yozgat

National AI Initiative

Strategic action plan and ministry establishment roadmap study with the goal of AI leadership.

Academic Working Group

MAARS Laboratory

The MAARS Academic Working Group is an interdisciplinary research team working primarily on artificial intelligence systems and application models.

Principles

MAARS approach follows these principles

Human-Centered

Output must produce value for human life.

Evidence-Based

Works with measurable indicators.

Modular

System expands without breaking down as projects grow.

Ethical Sensitivity

The goal is proper use, not technology.

Field Suitability

Pilotable, applicable design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MAARS an institution or a project?

MAARS is an overarching digital health ecosystem that unifies multiple projects and programs under the same methodological framework.

What are iShe / TERAKKİ / MUASIR?

They are core modules of MAARS (iTM). iShe focuses on cognitive health of elderly individuals, TERAKKİ on health tracking with wearable devices, and MUASIR on digital health kiosks and early diagnosis.

Is iShe (Ayşe) finished?

Yes. iShe is a project conducted and completed under TÜBİTAK 1002-A (324S300). The Ayşe character is the symbol of this project.

Who is Ayşe?

Ayşe is the conversation-based AI assistant of the iShe project. Designed to increase social interactions of elderly individuals living alone and monitor their cognitive health.

Who do you collaborate with?

Pilot studies and research partnerships are targeted with academic institutions (Ege University, Dokuz Eylül University, etc.), local governments, health institutions, and technology teams.
